"Crow’s Eye View" displays a view of Ulsan from the perspective of a crow. Inspired by a homonymous poem Crow’s Eye View(烏瞰圖) by Yi sang, the artist depicts d flock of crows traveling to look for habitats, portraying the unstable life of modern citizens who live without a certain destination. The singer Aancod, a white-mixed Bohemian raised in Korea with Japanese parents, appears in the work as a free soul who wanders from place to place with no attribution. The artist depicts Ulsan in the narrative form of documentary through crows and the singer, but in fact, metaphorically reflects the dream of cities that we should aim for. The dream is not a fictional narrative but based on the thorough reality. It is in close contact with a subtle tense relationship between reality and fiction that permeates the artist’s oeuvre. <오감도>는 까마귀의 시선으로 바라본 울산의 모습이다. 이상의 시(詩) ⟨오감도(烏瞰圖)⟩에서 영감을 받은 작가는 한 곳에 오래 정주하지 못하고 이동하며 살아가는 현대 도시민들의 삶을, 서식지를 찾아 먼 여행을 떠나는 까마귀 떼에 비유한다. 또한 작품에 등장하는 가수 안코드(Aancod)는 일본인 부모를 두고 한국에서 성장한 백인 보헤미안으로, 어디에도 귀속되지 않고 정처 없이 살아가는 자유로운 영혼의 소유자이다. 작가는 까마귀 떼와 가수 안코드를 통해 울산의 모습을 다큐멘터리 서사 형식으로 그려내고 있지만 사실 우리가 지향해야 할 모든 도시의 꿈을 은유적으로 묘사하고 있다. 이 꿈은 허공의 메아리가 아니다. 꿈은 허구적 내러티브가 아니라 철저한 현장성에 기초하고 있다. 이는 정연두 작가의 작업 세계를 관통하고 있는 실제와 가상의 미묘한 긴장관계와 맞닿아 있다.
