"Here and Elsewhere" is a series of multi layered collaged photo works that captures immigrants currently living in a foreign land and their expectations of life in that foreign land within their past memories. In 2015, the artist went to France and discovered that an exceptionally large number of immigrants resided in the Val de Marne region, where the MAC/VAL museum hosting the residency program was located. While researching their migration backgrounds, interviews were collected directly from the individuals, asking what they had imagined and expected about their future lives before arriving. These immigrants, bound by a common circumstance, shared diverse personal narratives that were by no means flat. Their voices emerge from the picture frame, allowing the audience to hear their stories while looking at delicately modified landscape pictures. 〈여기와 저기 사이〉는 지금 타지를 살고 있는 이민자들과 그들의 과거 기억 속 타지에서의 삶에 대한 기대를 작품화한 다층적인 콜라주 사진 연작이다. 2015년 프랑스로 간 작가는 참여하게 된 레지던시 프로그램을 주관하는 맥발 미술관(MAC/VAL)이 위치한 발데망 지역에 유독 많은 이민자들이 거주하고 있다는 것을 알게 되었다. 이들의 이주 배경에 대해 조사하면서, 이곳에 오기 전 프랑스에 대해 어떤 선입견과 기대를 품고 미래의 삶을 상상했는지 당사자들과 직접 인터뷰를 진행하고 이를 수집했다. 이민자라는 하나의 공통된 상황에 있는 이들은 결코 평면적이지 않은 개인마다 다른 서사를 들려주었다. 이들의 목소리는 액자 밖으로 흘러나오며, 관람객은 정교하게 변형된 풍경 사진을 바라보는 동시에 그들의 이야기를 들을 수 있다.
